BBC Magazines- BBC magazines are owned by the BBC. They publish many magazines, these include: BBC Easy Cook, BBC Gardeners' World, BBC Good Food, BBC History Magazine, BBC Home Cooking Series, BBC Top Gear Magazine, Radio Times and more. The BBC are mostly known for their television channel, this proves that the BBC has few different media platforms. With the BBC being one of the most watched TV channels in the UK, this status will encourage audiences to buy their magazines. The BBC are also connected via social media. Having various different specific Twitter and Facebook accounts. This allows the organisation to get out to a wider demographic and raises the profile of the brand. The fact the BBC has very subjective magazines allows the readers to get a magazine that suits them the best.  The difference the BBC have, compared to the other two organisations is that the BBC demographic is even wider that the other two. The BBC have a much more appealing content for children, with the inclusion of CBBC magazines and CBeebies magazines. Having these two magazines allows children to get involved with reading and it bumps up the selling’s that the BBC make. There isn’t just one CBBC and one Cbeebies magazine, there are many specific magazines based on the programmes, so if a child likes one specific programme, they can buy the resulting magazine.


TimeInc. Over 60 iconic media brands that captivate and inspire millions of people every day across print, online, mobile, tablets and experiences. TimeInc are one the biggest publishers in the UK. They publish many different magazines, for example: World Soccer, What’s on TV, Shooting UK, The Field, InStyle and many more. They represent over 30% of the magazine market, & have a proven record of outperforming in our sector. They also work with some of the most recognised household brands such as What’s on TV, Marie Claire and The Beano.  Growing magazine sales is our business. In 2007, TimeInc. magazine What’s on TV was the bestselling magazine of the year. Selling 1,421,645 copies, and the 9th bestselling magazine was Chat, which is also published my TimeInc. Chat sold 499,626 copies that year. TimeInc (like various magazine publishers nowadays) have various links with multi-media platforms, for example, social networking. TimeInc has Twitter and Facebook accounts to expand its brand to a wider audience and to show everyone what they’re brand is all about. This benefits the brand massively and that’s why all brands do this now. As social media has increased in popularity, the more brands advertise themselves on the websites. Due to the various number of magazines TimeInc publish, they will make high amounts of money. The majority of the magazines that TimeInc do publish, will most probably be brought out every week. Maybe some of the less popular ones will be every month but the majority brought out will be weekly.  All of these different types of magazines mean that the demographic of TimeInc magazine readers will be huge.  The main target audience for this publisher will be for an older audience.




Bauer- Similarly to TimeInc, Bauer are one of the biggest publishers in the world. With TimeInc, they share around 50% of the magazine market. They publish many magazines, with categories including Women’s Weeklies, Women’s Interest, TV Listings, Food, Puzzles and Special Interest.   TimeInc (like various magazine publishers nowadays) have various links with multi-media platforms, for example, social networking. TimeInc has Twitter and Facebook accounts to expand its brand to a wider audience and to show everyone what they’re brand is all about. This benefits the brand massively and that’s why all brands do this now. As social media has increased in popularity, the more brands advertise themselves on the websites.
